Sponsor Challenge & Scavenger Hunt
Saturday, April 24 – Saturday, May 1
The week will consist of an opportunity to search for treasure! Students may participate in an independent scavenger hunt, families can join in on a hunt across Houston, or individuals can set sail on their own “a-thon” with a personal goal. Regardless of the challenge chosen, participants can seek sponsorship from extended family, friends, and colleagues to help keep Westside shipshape. All participants will receive a treasure, with larger prizes for those with the most donations raised. Visit our fundraising page to learn more >>>
Online Silent Auction
Sunday, April 25 – Saturday, May 1
What is a gala without an auction full of treasures!? We will be hosting an online bidding experience and are requesting your help to gather some “booty” for the upcoming event.
Do you have a vacation home that could be used by the winner for a weekend or perhaps tickets to an event that you’d be willing to donate? What about some sports memorabilia? Could your business provide an item or a service? Does your family own a restaurant and could do a chef’s table dinner or a tasting? Do you have a relationship with a business or access to a person that would make for a good auction item?
Virtual Cooking, Mixology & Magic
Saturday, May 1 @ ~ 4:00–7:00 PM
Avast ye! Batten down the hatches for the event of the year! Our virtual fundraiser will culminate in an evening featuring cocktails, cooking, and magic!
Shake, pour, and sip your own fresh cocktails in an interactive Virtual Happy Hour Mixology event! Using Zoom, this lesson will blend in tips, tricks, and trivia from one of Houston’s finest spirits specialists, Jojo Martinez. Mocktail (non-alcoholic) equivalents will also be featured so we can be sure to celebrate the culmination of our gala week with our entire community.
Following the crash course in cocktails, we will be led by world-renowned chef Monica Pope in a once-in-a-lifetime lesson. We’ve seen her on TV, read about her in magazines, and now she is bringing her expertise to our exclusive WMS virtual class! Kids and adults will be able to join in the fun, as we learn from a James Beard Award Finalist and “Top Chef Master.”
What’s an evening of dining and drinks without going overboard on the entertainment? Internationally acclaimed performer Maximillian Rendall will be opening his treasure chest of magic tricks all the way from London, England. Unless you attended Princess Eugenie’s engagement party, you probably haven’t participated in his live audience, so prepare to shout “shiver me timbers!” as he amazes us all.
We encourage you to book ASAP to ensure your reservation because space is limited and only 500 tickets will be sold. The WMS community will have exclusive access to buy tickets on Tuesday, April 13 and Wednesday, April 14. Beginning on Thursday, April 15, sales will open up to the public.
**Ticket sales end Friday, April 30. If you purchase tickets after Sunday, April 25, you will still receive your kits (if applicable), but we cannot guarantee that they will be available in time for the event. All sales are final and basket items are subject to change**
An email will be sent out on April 30th to all ticket holders with the information needed to access the virtual event.
Please be sure to share this event with your friends, family, and colleagues! Everyone is welcome!
Our Annual Gala
The Westside Montessori School gala is our school’s signature fundraiser and most anticipated social event of the year. You don’t want to miss it! The event will begin with a scavenger hunt sponsor challenge, with the silent auction available for bidding all week. The week of fun and fundraising will culminate with a virtual finale featuring mixology and cooking lessons, a magician, a DJ, and the close of our online silent auction.
Your generosity in supporting our Pirates of the Bayou Gala will enable the school to to update our playground equipment with materials that can be more easily cleaned to ensure our students’ safety during this unprecedented time. The proceeds will also allow the integration of digital and online resources, making students’ introduction to technology an exciting exploration. In addition, extra funding provides for materials needed to support the mission of Westside Montessori School, and enable faculty and staff the opportunity to participate in professional development and further their training in the Montessori method.
